We don’t know what motivated the artist formerly known as Kanye West to show up to the Grammys on Feb. 2 with his wife Bianca Censori wearing a sheer dress that showed – well, practically everything. But we do know that their shocking red carpet stunt has left plenty of people alarmed and some even concerned for Censori’s safety.

Now, the executive producer of this year’s Grammys is finally breaking his silence about whether or not Censori’s barely-there dress broke the show’s dress code.

You may not believe it, based on some of the jaw-dropping looks that have appeared on red carpets past – we’re looking at you, J Lo’s low-cut green Versace dress from 2000. But in a recent interview with PEOPLE, Raj Kapoor, the executive producer of the 2025 show, described the Grammys dress code as “artistic black-tie,” but added, “In the music industry, I guess that’s up for interpretation.”

Kapoor went on to confirm that artists performing on stage have to comply with network standards, which “prohibits obscene, indecent and profane content from being broadcast on the radio or TV,” according to language on the FCC website. But he adds that attendees and nominees have to answer to the Recording Academy, the organization that presents the Grammys for their wardrobe choices.

Although charges haven’t been filed as of this writing, Censori’s outfit could be considered a violation of California’s law on indecent exposure, which rules against anyone who “intentionally exposes their genitals or naked body in front of someone who could be offended or annoyed.”

And judging by this X post, Censori’s dress did both.
