It’s that time of year again! The Root 100 list honoring the year’s most influential Black Americans is coming soon. This calls for a celebration as legendary as our honorees.
So mark your calendars, and consider this your cordial invitation to The 2024 Root 100 Gala, an evening of comedy, live music, and inspiration. It’s all going down on Thursday, December 5th at the historic Apollo Theater in Harlem, New York City. Tickets are on sale today! This is one show you won’t want to miss, so don’t sleep on it.
Hosting the evening is Roy Wood Jr., actor, stand-up comedian, Emmy-nominated producer of PBS documentary The Neutral Ground, former correspondent on Comedy Central’s Emmy-winning The Daily Show (2015-2023), and former headliner of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. The evening will also feature performances from R&B singer-songwriter Ledisi, and Tony-winning sensation Kecia Lewis of Broadway’s Hell’s Kitchen. Check back in with us for more programming updates as the event date draws closer.
As if that wasn’t enough, a handful of distinguished honorees will be accepting their awards on-stage, presented by The Root’s editorial staff. Honorees who attended the star-studded event over the years include musician, producer and multi-hyphenate Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson, singer and actress Chloe Bailey, and singer-songwriter and TV personality Jon Batiste.
Meanwhile, the staff at the Root has been working hard putting the list together. So make sure to check out the full list of 2024’s most influential Black artists, activists, athletes, public officials, and entrepreneurs, going live on November 12th!
We’re hoping to see you and your fellow Root fans in Harlem on December 5, so stay tuned here for more event lineup news! Buy tickets here, and we’ll see you at the Apollo.
