Gmail Motion Announced?

Google had us going for a minute this morning with its April Fools' Day announcement of Gmail Motion, a new function that would "use your computer's built-in webcam and Google's patented spatial tracking technology to detect your movements and translate them into meaningful characters and commands."

The prank came complete with a video demonstration and a printable instruction sheet with gestures just awkward enough to suggest it might not be real, for everything from "compose" to "report spam" to "archive."

It may have been a prank, but it doesn't seem too far removed from today's technological reality. Here at The Root, we couldn't help brainstorming suggestions for additional (or alternative) commands, just in case something like this actually comes to fruition. How about Jay-Z's famous, Obama-adopted shoulder brush-off to send a pesky advertiser to the spam folder? Or a dramatic "talk to the hand" motion to permanently block a contact? Give us your ideas in the comments section.
