A Georgia pastor has openly admitted his homosexuality to his congregation on the heels of the muchpublicized suicide deaths of gay teenagers. Bishop Jim Swilley of Church in the Now, a mega-church located in Conyers, Ga., about 25 miles east of Atlanta, said that he has known he is gay since childhood, but he never thought he would live openly. He came out recently after more than 20 years of marriage to his now-former wife, who continues to work at their church, and the reports of the suicide deaths. CNN reports, "At a certain point, you are who you are," says Swilley, who has four children from two marriages. "What I told my church is that I was given two things in my life that I didn't ask for … one is the call of God in my life, and the other is my orientation. I didn't ever think that those two things could be compatible," Swilley says. Some of his church members have cut ties with him, while others are supportive. You've gotta be you. We wonder which mega-church pastor will come out next.
