Last November, George Zimmerman's 27-year-old girlfriend told police that he had threatened her with a shotgun during a heated domestic dispute that led to a 911 call.
While the girlfriend, Samantha Scheibe, later withdrew the charges, saying in a sworn statement (pdf) that she was "intimidated" during police questioning and believed investigators had "misinterpreted" her words, a recently released video shows her speaking freely. It also bolsters her earlier complaint of being threatened by Zimmerman during a domestic dispute.
She told the interviewing officer that she had "threatened to call the cops on Zimmerman before" because "he has episodes," the video shows. In one incident, she alleged that Zimmerman, reportedly jealous because she had been texting an ex-boyfriend, choked her so hard that he bruised her throat. When asked why she failed to call the police, Scheibe said, "Because I feel like he always gets off.”
To be sure, Scheibe's withdrawn charges bore a striking resemblance to those filed by ex-wife Shellie Zimmerman in the aftermath of his acquittal this summer in the death of unarmed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.
