BET is about to feel the wrath of Gabrielle Union in the form of a lawsuit over what she says is a breach of her Being Mary Jane contract. Union is suing BET because, she says, the network is ripping her off by cramming more episodes into one season and paying her less, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
According to Union's lawsuit, she signed on to never do more than 13 episodes a season, but BET now wants to combine seasons 4 and 5 into one, which would also eliminate a pay raise from $150,000 to $165,000 that she was going to get in season 5.
The lawsuit states that the actress would never have agreed to star in the series if the network hadn't assured her that they would shoot no more than 13 episodes. Union is seeking $1 million in damages and an amended contract.
