Roosevelt Champion III, a 43-year-old African-American man from Georgia, was found dead Monday morning, hanging from a tree in Greene County, My Fox Atlanta reports.
Champion was found hanging behind his home near a “bushy area,” the news site explains. A man found Champion’s body and called authorities.
According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Champion had been questioned by authorities in an ongoing homicide investigation surrounding the death of 55-year-old Carol Lewis, who was found dead earlier in May in an apartment. Authorities would not elaborate on Champion’s connection to Lewis or that investigation.
The GBI said that a strap was found around Champion’s neck. Investigators also said that an autopsy would be conducted to determine the official cause of death.
