Come through, Marie Claire! To coincide with the blooming of the season, Marie Claire magazine has chosen not one, but five fresh beauties to grace a series of May covers, including our forever faves Issa Rae and Yara Shahidi!

Looking fresh to death and ever so fly (we want Rae’s violet lipstick now), the two beauties were captured by Erik Madigan Heck for the magazine’s “Fresh Faces” issue, and are featured along with Game of Thrones and X-Men: Dark Phoenix star Sophie Turner, Presley progeny and Paterno actress Riley Keough, and 13 Reasons Why star Katharine Langford.

As for our two favorites, perhaps the term “fresh faces” is a bit misleading. After all, the 18-year-old Shahidi has been acting on screens big and small since age 7, while Rae first graced us with the The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl in 2011.

That said, we can’t think of two fresher stars (scroll through each Instagram post for alternate cover love); we’re pretty sure Marie Claire is going to be getting double our money when these issues hit stands next week, since we can’t wait to hear each of these powerhouses speak on what it means to be a Hollywood influencer. Says Shahidi (wearing Chanel on the cover):

I’m in no way trying to be the face of blackness. The goal is to open doors, role by role, and be drowning in a sea of people who look like me, or like someone else, so anyone can see themselves reflected on-screen.

Rae, wearing Burberry and Jennifer Fisher for her cover look, shares that goal, telling Marie Claire, “I’m happy and grateful to be in a position where I can want to see something, and then support the people who are telling stories I want to see.”

What we want to see is more high-fashion magazines that look like this, and a Hollywood that supports more Issas, Yaras, Danais, Gaboureys, Avas, Tessas, Janelles, and so on and so on and so on ...

That would be fresh.
