A free concert in New York City featuring the group Hanson and rapper Drake was canceled because twice as many people anticipated showed for the event. The concert was to be held at Pier 17 on Manhattan's South Street Seaport, a popular summer locale for concerts. Promoters were expecting 10,000 people when 20,000 showed and became unruly. Concertgoers were climbing on top of roofs, throwing bottles and beginning to crush people near the stage. Two people were arrested and six had injuries. It’s New York in the summertime. People are out and about, so concert organizers should have planned better. Yet and still, all of this foolishness over Hanson and Drake? They’re not the best free concert New York has ever had.
