Army Sgt. 1st Class Gregory McQueen picked his targets based on his knowledge of their tight financial situation is what one female soldier claimed.
McQueen, who ironically was a sexual assault prevention officer at Fort Hood, Texas, is facing charges including pandering, conspiracy, adultery and sexual assault for his alleged part in running a prostitution ring for high-ranking officers, the New York Daily News reports.
The sergeant has been removed from his sexual assault prevention duties in light of the investigation, and could face up to 21 criminal charges, if he is handed a military court martial, the news site notes.
"Basically, it was having sex with higher-ranking officers for money," another female soldier told the Fort Hood hearing board on Tuesday. She claimed that, financially troubled and hoping to buy groceries for her 3-year-old, she was forced into the prostitution ring.
The 20-year-old private in question was granted immunity for agreeing to testify, and told the board that McQueen took naked pictures of her to show potential clients, and also slept with her to see how she would "act out" with said clients.
According to the Daily News, one of those clients was Master Sgt. Brad Grimes, who has since been demoted and disciplined.
