There's plenty of bad news about upcoming elections, not the least of which is the GOP effort to pass new restrictions that many believe are designed to suppress the votes of poor, black and Latino voters.
One positive story: A candidate for Montana's U.S. House seat with ties to the Ku Klux Klan says he is dropping out of the race because he didn't have enough support, the Huffington Post reports.
The 41-year-old former KKK organizer, John Abarr, made an unusually blunt announcement when he first announced his candidacy, explaining that he believed people would back him as part of a backlash against the nation's first black president.
But now he's out of the race, saying his campaign "wasn't going anywhere." With any luck, we'll be able to say the same thing about the "worst since Jim Crow" voting restrictions that should be every bit as alarming as Abarr's short-lived candidacy.
