Rihanna wowed us at last week’s New York City premiere of her now-hit film, Ocean’s 8, wearing a metallic, micro-pleated and ruffled plum-colored confection by Givenchy, and going monochromatic with matching sandals, nails, lips and eyes.
But for the British premiere of the film at Leicester Square’s Cineworld Cinema, Rih pumped up the volume on her heavy metal theme in a gold crushed, metallic, asymmetric dress by newly relaunched French legacy label Poiret. Longtime stylist Mel Ottenberg, who also styled the star for the film’s New York City premiere, the 2018 Met Gala and recent Savage lingerie campaigns, finished off the look with matching Giuseppe Zanotti sandals and a Christian Louboutin clutch. A series of small gold hoops adorned Rihanna’s multiple ear piercings, which were perfectly showcased by her sleek topknot, created by Yusef Williams. Red lips and nails provided a welcome contrast to the look.
But while Rih is an old pro at stealing the red carpet, this particular heist didn’t exactly go off without a hitch. Turns out the off-the-shoulder, wrap-style silhouette she was wearing was ripe for a wardrobe malfunction, which resulted in a need for some extra vigilance on the red carpet.
Thankfully, our bad gal isn’t easily embarrassed. As usual, she pulled the whole thing off with a wink and a smile.
