A Palm Bay, Fla., homeowner was enraged when his lawn serviceman pointed out a hateful slur burned into his front lawn for all to see, WESH 2 reports. It is believed that the vandals used some sort of chemical to burn the 3-foot letters spelling out the word “n—ger” on Courtney Gordon’s front lawn.

Gordon has an idea of who committed the crime, but authorities have said that unless someone confesses, it will be a tough crime to solve.

“I feel like this is a threat to me and my family, so I’m not too happy about it,” Gordon told the news station. “You can see [people] slowing down when they go by my house, so everybody’s just driving by and reading it.

“I feel that they’re a coward, because if they have an issue with me, it’s just best to come and speak to me and not take it to a level as this,” Gordon added.

Gordon has a surveillance camera, but it wasn’t on at the time of the vandalism. He said from now on, he will keep it on.

“I leave them to God,” he said. “I’m a big guy, so they’re not gonna come to me and say that. They did it like the way they did it: behind my back and at night.”
