It’s prom season, and if you randomly search social media for #Prom2k17, you’ll see tons of sequins, taffeta and organza. But one Florida teen wanted to make a socially conscious statement with her dress.

Pahokee High School student Milan Morris’ dress is covered in images of African Americans killed recently, including Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown and Sandra Bland.

Morris, who also happens to be a basketball player of the year in her area, had her dress designed by Terrence Torrence, a Palm Beach County designer who said he had the design idea for over a year.

“It really conveyed such a strong message,” Morris told the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel. “For me to be in that moment, to be bold and courageous to do that, it was a blessing.”

Morris’ photos have gone viral and have even been shared by celebrities like Snoop Dogg.
