Nola.com is reporting that between 10:30 Monday morning and Tuesday night, five people were killed on New Orleans streets, and three men were injured by gunfire. A 21-year-old man was shot dead in Algiers on Monday morning. Hours later, local rapper Magnolia Shorty and a 25-year-old man were shot several times inside a vehicle in eastern New Orleans. Andre Joseph, 37, died on the steps of a house on North Villere Street later that night. And on Tuesday morning, a maintenance worker discovered a man's body inside an apartment on Parc Brittany Boulevard. Police Superintendent Ronal Serpa noted that until the past weekend — when two men were killed — there hadn't been a fatal shooting in New Orleans for about two weeks. Now there are five, and just in time for the holidays. Shaking our heads over here at The Root.
