Fresh from our "Is she still talking?" file, former Alaska governor and Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin took a dig at Michelle Obama's breast-feeding initiative during an appearance at a Long Island country club. The New York Daily News is reporting that Palin cracked, "It's no wonder Michelle Obama is telling everybody you need to breast-feed your babies … the price of milk is so high!"

You would think that, as a woman with five children, she would know that babies are supposed to have breast milk or formula, not cow's milk. Clearly she is taking a cue from her fellow Republican politician Michele Bachmann, who accused Obama of meddling with American moms for her initiative to educate women about the benefits of breast-feeding — one of which is a reduction in childhood obesity.

Palin continues to demonstrate a basic lack of knowledge on many subjects, not to mention a lack of respect for anything research based. Two women with 10 children between them, and they're really going after the first lady about breast-feeding? Unfortunately, their commitment to setting women back at least 100 years continues. Luckily, the mom-in-chief is helping women move forward.
