Yung Miami, one half of the rap duo City Girls, is finally breaking her silence and opening up about her relationship with Diddy.
The revelations come as a part of the season two premiere of the “Act Up” rapper’s popular digital talk show series, “Caresha, Please.” But unlike previous episodes where Miami would be the one dishing out the questions, this time around she was the one in the proverbial hot seat answering questions about mher relationship with Diddy, explaining why she’s been silent amid the Bad Boy mogul’s mounting legal issues.
For context, the two have been romantically linked since 2021 and confirmed their relationship the following year. Miami however noted that she was single back in the spring of 2023.
“People felt like I was Diddy’s biggest cheerleader and I made him my brand. And I felt like Diddy was on brand for me. I got with Diddy and brought him into my life,” she said at one point, answering questions from her best friend Saucy Santana.
When they got on the topic of her dating experience with the hip-hop producer and why she chose not to speak out amidst his shocking allegations, Miami explained:
“I met Diddy when he was in another era. I met Diddy when the world was celebrating him and giving him his flowers while he was alive. He was getting the Global Icon Award, the Lifetime Achievement Award, the key to the city, he had a new album coming out. So, I was celebrating him with the world.
And I just feel like everybody’s trying to crucify me for it. Like, ‘you was his biggest advocate, you was his cheerleader.’ But I was just celebrating him when the world was celebrating him. So why am I being crucified, why am I being separated? When I was dating him, it was ‘love, love, love. The frequency, the frequency is high.’...So I just felt like I met him in a whole new era and that wasn’t my experience.
She later added: “I can’t speak on something that wasn’t my experience, and I can’t speak on something that I don’t know. I can’t speak on these allegations because I wasn’t around at the time,” she said. “I don’t know that person, and that wasn’t my experience.”
Later, when Santana asked if she’d specifically experienced any domestic violence at the hand of Diddy, citing her own experience with it in past relationships and the shocking video of Diddy assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura that was released back in May, the “Rodeo” rapper made it clear that she vowed to never put herself in that position afterwards and that she “doesn’t stand for domestic violence. I’m just not going for that.”
While the two aren’t together anymore, Miami ultimately felt like the producer was a “really good person” to her but they decided to part ways so she could focus on her career and her family while he navigates this part of his life on his own.
