(The Root) — The issue of a living wage has been on quite a few minds, and lips, recently, what with the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, in which Martin Luther King Jr. led the call for fair treatment and employment.
On Thursday, just ahead of the Labor Day weekend, fast-food workers in nearly 60 cities across the nation went on a one-day strike to force the raising of the minimum wage from $7.25 to $15 an hour. The strikers are also demanding the right to unionize. Protests, which began in New York City last November, are taking place outside chain restaurants like McDonald's and Burger King in cities including Indianapolis, Detroit and Chicago.
Twitter has been on fire with conversation on the matter, with some in favor of increasing the minimum wage and others against it. Check out some of the debate below.
Never turn my nose up at anyone's profession. A job is a job. Long as you helping provide for your family and yourself.
