Professional MMA fighter Roshaun Jones was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder this week. One of his victims was a mother and grandmother who was killed at work.
Police charged the 33-year-old bantamweight—who lost more fights than he won—with the deaths of two people he allegedly shot and killed in an armed robbery attempt at the Laundry Station in Del City, Okla., on Monday.
Nekia Jackson, 42, was the day manager at Laundry Station, and Russ Roberts was a 60-year-old good Samaritan who reportedly tried to help her.
A customer came in and found their bodies in what has been described as a “gruesome” scene.
A GoFund Me page was set up to raise money for Jackson’s funeral expenses. It says that she was a loving single mother of three children, including a 15-year-old son who still lived at home. KFOR reports that Jackson was also a new grandmother.
“They just wanted to hurt my baby because for some little laundry change,” Nekia’s father, Horace Jackson, said. “That’s not worth it to take my baby’s life.”
Surveillance footage and the U.S. Marshals Service assisted in Jones’ capture in Midwest City, Okla., on Thursday.
Jones faces the death penalty if convicted.
