Black History Month is something we can celebrate with all of our senses, and Tidal is here to activate your sight and hearing. The subscription-based streaming service offering music, podcast and video is celebrating the blackest time of the year with a set of A&E documentaries highlighting black luminaries in our history.
The 44th President: In His Own Words: Former President Barack Obama’s firsthand account of his time in office—his successes, his failures, his unfinished business—and what he hopes will be his legacy.
Rise Up: The Movement that Changed America: This one-hour documentary explores the key battles in the Civil Rights Movement that transformed American society—from the Montgomery Bus Boycott of 1955 to the Chicago Campaign which led to the Fair Housing Act of 1968.
10 Days That Unexpectedly Changed America: Freedom Summer: The documentary focuses on the watershed moment when three Civil Rights workers were murdered by the Ku Klux Klan in Mississippi.
Additionally, Tidal has been rolling out a “Tracks & Traces” playlist every Thursday this month, which musically documents an artist’s influences and their effect on their respective genre. Each playlist highlights a different influential black artist and is accompanied by an essay discussing the impact of each artist. Poly Styrene kicked off the month on February 7.
