Our Forever First Lady, Michelle Obama, always gives us exactly what we need – even when we don’t know we need it. Her bestselling 2022 book, “The Light We Carry: Overcoming in Uncertain Times,” was packed with personal stories and reflections about how she’s navigated being a wife, mother and the first Black First Lady of the United States. She candidly shared how she’s managed to keep her cool during some of the most challenging times of her life –essentially, how she goes high when the world around her goes low.
Now that we’ve had a chance to soak up all of that wisdom, Mrs. Obama is ready to help us put it in to practice. Today, she announces plans for the release of her latest book, and trust us when we say it’s exactly what your self-care routine has been missing.
“OVERCOMING: A Workbook,” is set to drop on December 3, 2024. The book, published by Crown Publishing Group, draws on the wisdom Mrs. Obama shared in “The Light We Carry” and gives readers creative activities, reflective writing prompts, habit-tracking tools, and more to help them unlock their power, share their whole self, and show up in relationships.
Since leaving the White House, Mrs. Obama has had amazing success as a bestselling author. In 2018, her memoir, “Becoming,” was one of the bestselling books of all time, selling over 17 million copies around the world. Her 2022 follow-up, “The Light We Carry: Overcoming in Uncertain Times,” is a #1 New York Times bestseller which has sold more than 1.85 million units across all formats in North America to date.
The former First Lady announced the book’s release on her socials today and gave us a sneak peek inside the beautifully-designed pages.
“I’m so thrilled to let you know that OVERCOMING: A Workbook, based on The Light We Carry, is coming out on December 3!” she captioned a July 31 Instagram post.
“Learning to take smaller steps helps us understand what’s actually within our control so that we can prioritize our efforts, sustain our energy, and create new possibilities for ourselves and for those around us. That’s what I hope this workbook can help readers achieve—a sense of meaningful progress that nourishes their hope and energy,” said Ms. Obama in a statement announcing the book’s release.
We’ve already got the “Overcoming” release date on our calendars. But is it too early to start hoping she’ll go on another book tour?
