Public school classes in Arizona has been completely whitewashed, now that 2011 has arrived. The ban on ethnic-studies classes has been in effect since Jan. 1.
From the Christian Science Monitor: The law bans classes that promote the overthrow of the U.S. government or resentment toward a race or class of people. Also outlawed are courses designed primarily for students of a particular ethnic group and those that advocate ethnic solidarity rather than treat students as individuals.
One Tucson school district vows to keep classes based on Mexican-American history. But school officials have only 60 days to comply with the new law before they face funding cuts.
