I'd bet everything in my wallet that T.I. got on the phone with Iggy Azalea last night and warned her that she did not want to clap back at Erykah Badu.
Iggy would be well within her rights, though. Erykah Badu hosted the Soul Train Awards, which aired Sunday night on BET, and during her opening monologue she cracked a joke at Iggy's expense.
The awards show was celebrating purely soul and R&B acts—not hip-hop. So Badu pretended that she was on a phone call with Azalea and said, "Oh, no, no, no, no [Iggy], you can come, because what you're doing is definitely not rap."
"In fact, I'mma send an Uber for you right now," Badu continued.
Yikes. The crowd oohed and aahed and giggled. No word yet from Iggy, but since she's known for not letting people come for her without giving them a response, I'm sure she's crafting a 140-character retort at this very moment.
It's a tough challenge because Iggy has to take into consideration that she'd be shooting at the Queen of Neo-Soul—a beloved woman whom African Americans adore. Just look at how Jay Electronica (the father of one of Badu's daughters) barged in on Erykah's interview with the legendary Breakfast Club and warned the radio hosts not to disrespect the mother of his child.
As the saying goes, Iggy, if you come for the king, you best not miss.
