As Suge Knight sits in a cell waiting for his murder trial in the death of Terry Carter to begin, Carter's wife, Lilian Carter, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Knight. But Carter isn't only going after Knight—she's also named Universal Studios, Dr. Dre and Ice Cube as co-defendants.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Lilian Carter stated that the studio did not provide adequate security on Dr. Dre and Ice Cube's Straight Outta Compton movie set, where Terry Carter was killed after Knight is accused of hitting him with his truck and running him over. As far as Universal's being cited in the lawsuit, Lilian Carter claims that the movie studio was negligent, too, because it knew of a longtime feud between Dr. Dre and Knight. According to the lawsuit, Dr. Dre requested security to keep Knight off the set, and the suit states that it's the studio's fault for allowing Knight on it.
The suit also alleges that Universal was negligent for hiring Cle "Bone" Sloan to work on the set. Sloan reportedly had an altercation with Knight in a fast-food restaurant parking lot near the set, which allegedly led to the hit-and-run.
Dr. Dre's attorney, Howard King, called the lawsuit preposterous.
Knight's next hearing date is July 7 for a preliminary hearing regarding the hit-and-run case and an unrelated robbery charge.
