Donald Trump is having a pretty bad week earning the black vote.
First a Black Lives Matter protester was beaten at a Trump rally in Birmingham, Ala., Saturday. When asked about the beating the man reportedly received, Trump told the Fox News Channel: "Maybe he should have been roughed up, because it was absolutely disgusting what he was doing. I have a lot of fans, and they were not happy about it. And this was a very obnoxious guy who was a trouble-maker who was looking to make trouble."
Then, on Sunday, the real estate mogul and reality-TV star tweeted a racist chart full of inaccurate crime stats that included bogus "facts" like the percentage of blacks killed by police is 1 percent, while the percentage of whites killed by blacks is 81 percent. The chart also claims that 97 percent of blacks are killed by other black people.
According to the Huffington Post, "the statistics, purported to be gathered by a Crime Statistics Bureau in San Francisco this year, appear to be fabricated," since the bureau doesn't exist. The news site also notes that while the FBI does collect data on crime statistics, the stats for this year haven't been released.
According to 2014 FBI data, around "82 percent of murders involving white victims were committed by other white people, while only 14 percent were committed by black people," the Huffington Post reports. The site also notes that black people killed some 90 percent of black victims, while white people killed some 7 percent of black victims.
"Crime experts have concluded that homicides are most likely to occur among people of the same race because people are usually murdered by someone they already know, and most people primarily know people of their own race," the Huffington Post reports.
