We all know flying is stressful, but that doesn’t give you the right to act like you have no home training on the plane. Former NFL player Gosder Cherilus forgot this over the weekend when he allegedly did something disgusting on a Delta Air Lines flight.
According to CBS News, on Sunday around 2 a.m., Massachusetts State Police were called to Boston’s Logan Airport when a Delta flight from Boston to Dublin, Ireland headed back to the U.S. “because of an unruly passenger who urinated on another passenger on board.”
“Troopers verbally commanded Cherilus to leave the plane, but he became irate and uncooperative,” police said in a statement. “Eventually, Troopers escorted Cherilus to the jet bridge and placed him under arrest for Disorderly Conduct and Disturbing a Flight Crew.”
I can’t believe this needs to be said, but DO NOT URINATE ON OTHER PASSENGERS!
There are no details on what allegedly went down on the plane, but honestly, there is no reasonable excuse for urinating on someone. It doesn’t matter how drunk, mad, or out of sorts you may be, that is totally unacceptable behavior.
Plus, your nonsense has now impacted everyone else’s travel plans, as the other passengers had to be rebooked on a Sunday night flight to Dublin, which lands in Ireland Monday morning. Can you imagine how the phone call to the people waiting on you in the European country went? There’s no diplomatic way to say, “Sorry, my flight’s been delayed because an out of control passenger peed on someone, so we had to go back to Boston.”
“Delta has zero tolerance for unlawful behavior and will cooperate with law enforcement to that end. We apologize to our customers for the delay in their travel,” a Delta spokesperson told CBS’ Boston affiliate, WBZ-TV, in a statement.
Cherilus is a former offensive tackle who played for Boston College, then spent nine seasons in the NFL with the Detroit Lions, Indianapolis Colts and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He retired in 2016.
He will be arraigned in East Boston District Court on Monday.
