Amber Rose has taken to Instagram to share that she is now a Donald Trump supporter. On Monday, the 40-year-old model and former stripper posed with the presumed 2024 Republican presidential frontrunner and captioned the picture “Trump 2024" alongside three American flag emojis.
It wasn’t that long ago that Rose called Trump a “f**king idiot” in an interview with The Cut and said that she “really hope[s] he’s not president.” In 2016, Rose also told Us Weekly that she was planning to leave the country over Donald Trump’s win.
“I can’t even think about it! I’m moving, I’m out! I can’t. And I am taking my son with me!” she said.
Rose has used her celebrity to champion women’s rights. She hosted a SlutWalk in 2015 to speak out against sexual harassment on college campuses and other places, and raised over $50,000 for the Amber Rose Foundation. She founded the organization to “promote discussion about women’s rights and equality issues.” She has been vocally adamant about ending rape culture, slut shaming and victim blaming regarding sexual assault.
Many see Rose’s stance as hypocritical, as Trump has been accused of sexual harassment and was found liable for sexual assault. His actions also helped the Supreme Court abolish Roe v. Wade, making it much harder for women to obtain an abortion. The backlash Rose has faced prompted her to comment on The Shade Room’s Instagram page t0 defend her stance.
“Y’all think Biden cares about black ppl??? Sad. Do ur research. I did. I’ll ALWAYS put women first. Y’all want biological men in women’s sports,” she wrote. “Trump supports the most reasonable compromise on abortion. Stop being brainwashed cuz WE’RE ppl of color. Make your own decisions.”
It’ll be interesting to see how her stance evolves as the election gets even closer.
