Our future, we know, belongs to the young. That is why The Root has decided to put the spotlight on the leaders of tomorrow.

We want your help in finding candidates for our "Young Futurists" list of stars of the future. We are looking for young African-American men and women, ages 16 to 21, who are making a difference and trying to change the world.  We will select 25 to profile in February 2011, Black History Month.

Candidates can be technology innovators, volunteers, organizers, activists, entrepreneurs, community leaders, members of the military, students, athletes or those working toward a greener future. What we're looking for are young men and women who are committed to making the world a better place and are actually doing something about it. Young people who have made discoveries, started unique organizations or ventures, or otherwise demonstrated a flare for innovation, are who we're seeking.
