Whew! We are only a few days into 2024, and tea just keeps on spilling in the entertainment industry. The latest comes from Ziya Abashae, the alleged ex-girlfriend of podcaster and internet personality DJ Akademiks, who took to social media to expose and accuse him of sexual assault. But, that’s not all the whole story.
Sexual Assault Claims
In a posted video, Abashae said, “For you to pretend you didn’t do anything? That I just went to your house and I’m some thot, like we didn’t know each other for two years. You tried to save yourself after your friends assaulted me. Whether or not you got drunk or not.”
She added, “I know that when you woke up, you were on top of me too. You raped me too.”
She concluded that she will come back with her own story because she’s been “quiet for way too long.”
Abashae’s video seems to be in response to a clip circulating around the internet from New Year’s Eve in which DJ Akademiks claims Abashae came to his home and snuck off while he was asleep to have sex with his friends. According to Akademiks, he caught it all on camera.
In the clip, Akademiks explains that he told her to get tested, and then an argument followed that remark where she allegedly demanded to see surveillance footage of the hookup. He also said at the time of their conversation, his friends hadn’t confirmed they sexually interacted with Abashae.
However, according to Abashae’s account, she was raped by Akademiks and his group of friends, and she allegedly has a rape test kit to prove it.
Grooming?
At the height of this conflict, another internet personality, Nate Reruns, leaked messages from 2019 he claims were between Akademiks and a 17-year-old girl. In those messages, he allegedly asks where she’s from, how old she is, and when she turns 18, according to VIBE.
As the screenshots continue, the woman explains their relationship and claims that despite not knowing her real age, Akademiks had sexual relations with her. She also accused him of taunting her and another girl to take their clothes off and drink with him. Reruns also shared another set of messages allegedly between a 17-year-old girl and Akademiks, where she claims he promised to get her drunk and record her.
As of now, these accusations are simply what they are—accusations. It’s unclear if Abashae plans to take legal action against the podcaster. Until this story develops, the internet is divided between people supporting Akademiks and people celebrating his downfall.
