Hollywood is running out of ideas again, so why not remake something that was once a hit? And that’s exactly what Disney is planning to do with Sister Act.
The original Sister Act, released in 1992, starred Whoopi Goldberg and was one of Disney’s most successful movies of that decade, earning more than $200 million worldwide, according to IMDb. A sequel starring Lauryn Hill and a Broadway musical followed.
The remake will be written by Kirsten “Kiwi” Smith and Karen McCulla, known for Legally Blonde, The House Bunny and She’s the Man, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The plot details of the new movie hasn’t been revealed yet, and there is no word on whether Goldberg will reprise her role as the tough-acting lounge singer-turned-nun.
