For the second year in a row, Sean “Diddy” Combs has hit the top of the Forbes 2016 “Cash Kings” list, raking in $62 million in 2016. It is his fifth time taking the top spot.
The Forbes Hip-Hop Ranking is now in its 10th year and has been referenced in numerous rap songs, including one by Diddy himself in which he says, “The only one that’s topping Forbes, I’m gettin’ lonely,” on his 2014 track “Big Homie.”
Interestingly, music is not Diddy’s bread and butter, since he continues to be paid handsomely from his “outrageously lucrative” Ciroc vodka deal and other nonmusical ventures. His Bad Boy Reunion Tour, which runs through the fall, may add a few coins in his pocket, though.
Behind Diddy in this year’s class is Shawn “Jay Z” Carter with $53.5 million, Dr. Dre with $41 million, Drake with $41.5 million and Wiz Khalifah with $24 million rounding out the top 5. Other notables: Nicki Minaj is the only woman on the list (No. 6 at $20.5 million), and 2016 marks Harlem’s A$AP Rocky’s first time ever on the list (No. 13, $14.5 million).
