Diss tracks are in vogue because a rapper seems to drop a new one every week. Last weekend it was Drake and Kendrick Lamar. A few days later, it was The Game. Now, Diddy’s son, King Combs, is the latest MC to throw his hat in the diss track world.
On Sunday, Combs released the song, “Pick A Side,” in which he takes shots at all of his father’s haters — mainly Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, who has been trolling the Bad Boy Records founder for years.
Listen to the track below:
When it comes to 50, King Combs raps, “When all they had was 50 Cent who put the city on the map?/ Stop lying, pops been hated on by many men and n***a, that’s fine/ They gon’ try to stop these Eminems and they gon’ die trying.”
Though these are clear shots at the G-Unit rapper, he did not seem to be threatened based on his social media posts.
On Sunday, he posted a photo of Diddy and his son dancing on Instagram, along with the caption, “I feel so threatened by the things Christian is saying on his record. I’m afraid for my life, please don’t hurt me guys. I never mentioned or posted anything about puffy’s kids because KEEFE D said he killed 2Pac LOL.”
In a Monday morning post, 50 Cent said, “Now why would you say some shit like this when you know the FEDS are investigating. IS YOU STUPID OR IS YOU DUMB? LOL.”
The “Many Men” rapper was referencing a part of the “Pick A Side” song in which King Combs raps, “Knocked them walls down like when them fedy boys ran in both our cribs/Too bad they ain’t know we bought the one next door/Cause that’s the one they missed.”
(Let’s see if that line comes back to bite him and his family since he’s claiming that the FBI forgot to raid one of Diddy’s homes.)
The irony of the war of words between Combs and Fif is the latter’s relationship with his own son: Marquise Jackson has been publicly estranged from his father for years. In 2018, 50 Cent shot out a sobering tweet after seeing a picture of Marquise with Kenneth “Supreme” McGriff, a former drug lord accused of attempting to murder Fif in 2000.
“...if both these little n****s got hit by a bus, I wouldn’t have a bad day,” he tweeted.
