Well before Solange dove on Jay Z in that elevator, I always suspected that she, well, felt a way about her brother-in-law.
Sure, she's always spoken about how much she loves and adores Nas—a onetime nemesis of Hov's—but it was the fact that she kept on bringing up just how much of a fan she is of Esco's; the steady reminiscing about how she got suspended in junior high school for hanging up a poster of Nas in her locker, and then glowing a few years ago when she described how she knew all the words to Stillmatic.
Nas is dope, so I understand her adulation. But even though Jay Z and Nas have since reconciled, all of that made me wonder why Solange wasn't perhaps more sensitive to the "Nas" topic and insisted on gushing over a rapper who once called her brother-in-law a "d—k-riding" you-know-what.
And then, on Saturday, shorty is in Miami for Art Basel, deejaying a set, and she's playing none other than Cam'ron—a rapper Jay Z is still at odds with. Solange posted a video on Instagram, mouthing the words to Cam'ron's lyrics and having a good ol' time.
If you think the Roc-a-Fella-Dipset beef is dead, try going to any one of Jay Z's 40/40 Clubs and requesting a song from a Dipset artist: Cam'ron, Jim Jones or Juelz Santana. You'll get deaded on quick. Cam'ron says time and time again that he's over his feud with Jay Z and doesn't know why his songs are still off-limits at Jay Z's venues.
Hey, all of this could be nothing, or it could be an inkling that Solange is not all the way here for Jay Z. It seems like she refuses to let her brother-in-law's beefs dictate who she likes, listens to or interacts with.
