Amid Donald Trump’s win in the 2024 Presidential Election, other news has started to circulate in the conservative media world. On Monday, a day before the election, a rumor that Megyn Kelly and Candace Owens signed a $700 million deal with CBS started to resurface on Facebook.
Although no reliable news source or publication posted the story, it was shared on the social media site more than 125,000 times. Despite that, many people in the comment section shared enthusiasm about the “news.”
One person commented, “These two women maybe a bit harsh but they are very reasonable strong women. Unlike the View where those women are spewing bigotry and ignorance and hate always.”
Another person wrote, “Now this I would watch! I cannot stand The View. Maybe they should run together for the POTUS and VP 2028?? I would vote for Candice Owens in a flash.”
Althought many on Facebook seemed excited, this rumor has not been proven to be true, as it was essentially made up by a satire site, according to Snopes.com.
This rumor originated in September and was created by SpaceX Fanclub. They made it clear in their original post that it was satire, but people still continued to run with the idea. They even said that the two signed the deal with CBS in an effort to compete with ABC’s daytime television show, “The View.”
While there won’t be a show with these two on it, both are not afraid to share their controversial opinions about the state of the world and other news in popular culture.
In September, Kelly, without provocation, stated on her podcast that she missed the “fat Oprah.” This was following her appearance at a rally in support of Kamala Harris.
After being fired from the Daily Wire in March, Owens made some offensive comments about gangsta rap, tweeting that, “Gangster rap was never black culture.”
This led to a heated response from hip-hop lovers everywhere, including one of the originators of “gangsta rap,” Ice Cube.
