It looks like Lil Nas X ran his mouth a bit too much on social media and is being called out on his latest assertion. His forthcoming single, “J CHRIST,” featured religious imagery comparing himself to Jesus Christ — predictably, he’s received backlash.
As a response, Nas X claimed earlier this week that he received an acceptance letter from the conservative Liberty University. The letter — which he posted —extended a warm reception to the star for the fall 2024 semester, with “a Dual Concentration in Christian Leadership and Biblical Studies.” When fans questioned the validity of this announcement, Nas Xinsisted it was legit.
“I know some of yall hate me right now but i want yall to know im literally about to go to college for biblical studies in the fall,” he stated in a post on Instagram. “Not everything is a troll! Anyways IM A STUDENT AGAIN! LETS GOOO.”
However, Liberty University says Nas Xis not telling the truth and that he was never accepted there. The university even used his government name, Montero Hill, to set the record straight.
“Liberty University did not issue the Montero Hill ‘acceptance letter’ posted yesterday to social media, and we have no record of Montero Hill applying to the University,” a spokesperson explained.
“Liberty University exists to glorify God by equipping men and women in higher education in fidelity to the Christian faith expressed through the Holy Scriptures. We continue to pray for America and for the Gospel of Jesus Christ to be proclaimed across this land. We welcome all to apply and join us at Liberty University.”
The letter is signed by former Liberty University president Jerry Falwell. However, Falwell passed away in 2007 — Dondi E. Costin is the current president.
