“I’m in flower heaven!” host June Ambrose exclaims as she smells a bouquet of pink peonies. In this third and final episode of our creative women series, inspiration blooms at the flower market with June’s good friend, florist and PR powerhouse Kilee Hughes. Hughes is the founder and CEO of Six One Agency, a boutique public relations and brand strategy agency. And there’s more: Hughes somehow also found time to become a certified floral designer, and run her own studio, Mariama Florals, which is dedicated to custom events while supporting a healthy planet.

Heading up her two businesses has been the result of an eclectic and disciplined career. Hughes was on her way to becoming a professional volleyball player while studying communications at the University of Southern California. She then completed an internship at a talent agency and decided to move to NYC on a whim; that’s when her calling appeared: Over the next decade she went on to organize events and do PR and marketing jobs for Nike, L’Oreal, Net-A-Porter, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Luxottica. Nowadays she’s known for elevating brands and telling stories in a wide range of fields.
