The Cinderella run for the University of Colorado football team is over, at least it seems to be. After starting the season off 3-0, Deion Sanders’ team is now 1-4 in their last five games.
Considered to be one of the most popular and talked about teams in the country, some of their luster has worn off after a slew of bad and inconsistent performances. Their most recent loss came on Saturday to UCLA, losing 28-16 at the Rose Bowl. But that isn’t the only thing they lost.
According to Sports Illustrated, at least five players on the University of Colorado football team had jewelry and other valuable items stolen from their lockers during their matchup against UCLA at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif.
A video posted by a Well of Media on Sunday, shows Colorado players after the game talking about their stolen items, which allegedly include three diamond and gold chains.
Sports Illustrated reported that UCLA police are still investigating the incident.
But even if local authorities can discover who took the items, it’ll take a lot more than some stolen ice for the team to get back on track. Prior to the season, many college football analysts and experts expected the team to be one of the worst in the Pac-12.
Some of those thoughts were put to bed after a shocking opening game against TCU, winning 45-42. The team became the talk of college football. Shadeur Sanders, Deion’s son, was getting hype as a top NFL draft pick. Travis Hunter was being looked at as one of the most unique and gifted athletes in recent years considering he plays both cornerback and wide receiver full time.
But after playing some of the best teams in the country, it’s clear that Deion’s program still needs some work. He even admitted as much following the loss to UCLA.
It doesn’t get any easier next week, as they face Oregon State, the 16th-ranked team in the country.
