Definitely heading back to the gym next week. Looks like I’ll be able to fit it into my schedule just fine, especially in the morning. Looks like it’s simply a matter of allowing myself enough time to get there, workout, and dress for work while there. The only problem lies in whether or not I have to go back home to pick someone up, or if I can go straight to work from there.
It’s going to be tricky like that until we get Car No. 3, but this I know for sure: I’ve gotten precious little exercise this week, and it’s contributing to my fatigue, especially in the evening. Well that, and the fact my iron levels are bottoming out. I’m very familiar with the warning signs, and right now I’m surrounded by red flags.
That’s an easy enough fix, and I’m proud to say I had all my vitamins yesterday. Folks, trust me when I tell that taking all your vitamins and minerals daily makes a difference all the way around. You just feel better.
Despite my best intentions, I’ve been staying up past midnight since Sunday. Not good when you get up between 5:30 and 6. I do have a good excuse for last night: I was getting ready for bed when I suddenly remembered I wanted to put a trinket – the AIDS symbol – on one of my locs. I bought it Monday at Ornamentea, which isn’t far from my downtown office, on the only day this week I had my car.
I often have a few tiny, pure gold beads scattered in my hair, as well as some small, colored Swarovski crystals. Or a silver cross. However, I took them all out during the past several months of job hunting. That was the limit of my compromise. I didn’t take out graduation dates on my resume or anything else that might mask my age or ethnicity, like some folks do. I’m just not that into the element of surprise.
But I am excited and proud to be a part of the movement to end HIV/AIDS deaths and improve the quality of life of people with HIV/AIDS, and when anyone sees the trinket in my hair, they’ll make some assumptions, but hopefully only those seeking advice and information will tap me on the shoulder.
Meanwhile, I’m thinking about getting a can of Red Bull on my way in. I guess this is all part of adjusting to a new daily sked, but oh how my pillow is calling my name. Bobby’s still asleep, and he’s supposed to be dropping me off on his way in. There’s something wrong with this picture . . .
* Sigh.* I think I’ll just drink a big glass of ice-cold water and go skip rope in the garage for a few minutes. Man, I hope that helps.
Onward and upward.
