If his daughter Peggy Kennedy Wallace has anything to say about it, that part of the family legacy will end with her. In a commemoration of “Bloody Sunday,” she recently walked across Alabama’s Edmund Pettus Bridge hand in hand with civil rights hero Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.). She’s also writing a book about the impact that her father’s politics had on her family.

Her goal: “I just would like for my children to not remember where my father stood, but where I am standing now.”
