Former Alabama Gov. George Wallace will always be remembered for his bigoted attitude toward African Americans, captured by his infamous declaration, "Segregation now, segregation tomorrow and segregation forever."

If his daughter Peggy Kennedy Wallace has anything to say about it, that part of the family legacy will end with her. In a commemoration of "Bloody Sunday," she recently walked across Alabama's Edmund Pettus Bridge hand in hand with civil rights hero Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.). She's also writing a book about the impact that her father's politics had on her family.

Her goal: "I just would like for my children to not remember where my father stood, but where I am standing now."
