It’s not every day that one of the most savage lyricists in hip-hop gets sweet and sentimental, but that’s what happened on Saturday evening when Terrence Thornton—better known as Pusha T—married longtime girlfriend Virginia Joy Williams at the historic Cavalier Hotel in their hometown of Virginia Beach, Va.

The couple, who have been together over a decade, spared no expense in celebrating their nuptials, which the bride desired to be “fancy, but not uptight,” as she told Brides magazine. To keep the feeling relaxed and elegant, the couple worked with wedding planner Victoria Holland to create a muted palette of white, nude, grey, smoke and ivory with marble accents and lots of greenery and lush white flowers.

Pusha was equally sure about what he wanted to wear for the big day, choosing a custom ivory dinner jacket and black tuxedo pants designed by Dior Homme artistic director Kim Jones and styled by celebrity favorite Jason Rembert. While it was Jones’ first attempt at designing for a wedding, there was no hesitation from the superstar groom.

“Pusha reached out to me about his wedding suit in such a nice way that it was a pleasure for me to make it for him,” Jones told Vogue. “He knew exactly what he was looking for!”

Pusha agreed, telling the magazine, “I’ve been a fan of Dior for a while now. And with Kim recently appointed as artistic director, it was a no-brainer! I wanted to keep it classic, but play on the time and location of the wedding so I paired my black tuxedo pants with an off-white jacket.”

The bride walked down the aisle in a sleeveless embroidered gown with a deep v-neckline by Marchesa and pearl-embellished strappy sandals by Chanel, pairing her classic cathedral length veil with Lorraine Schwartz jewels and a romantic updo. Her bridesmaids wore white dresses by Katie May collection, while the groomsmen (which included best man Pharrell) were also outfitted by Jones in custom black tuxes by Dior Homme (predictably, Pharrell rolled up his cuffs to reveal bare ankles).

Upon arrival at the Cavalier, guests were greeted by several father-of-the-bride’s balloon-bedecked vintage cars. For the ceremony, event planner Holland conceived of a runway-style aisle lined with elegant lucite chairs leading to the hotel’s Grand Loggia overlooking the ocean. There, Pusha and his bride were wed as “a symbol of the couple’s strong partnership and their lives joining together,” Vogue reports. Guests dried their tears with custom handkerchiefs embroidered with the happy couple’s new monogram.

For the reception, the bride changed into a strapless white gown with a plunging illusion neckline by Reem Acra, and let her hair down in loose waves beneath a floral crown by DMV-area floral designers Darling & Daughters, who also designed the bride’s bouquet.

Guests dined on lobster, lamb and short rib catered by the hotel, and a cake by the local Incredible Edibles bakery. Later, they were treated to a Cognac bar and custom-rolled cigars, and a food truck providing chicken and seafood from one of the bride and groom’s favorite local eateries, Feather ‘n’ Fin. And in case guests wore out their dancing shoes on the diamond-shaped dance floor, each was gifted a pair of custom Adidas slides to commemorate the event.

From proposal to party, Pusha and Virginia’s wedding was an event custom-made for hip-hop royalty—as is, no doubt, their extended honeymoon in Greece. Congrats to the happy couple!
