Daily Job Lead: Online Editor

The Environmental Defense Fund in New York City is seeking an online editor for marketing and communications. The online editor will ensure that EDF.org remains a timely, relevant and effective vehicle for information about the organization. He or she will work with EDF's creative director, the director of membership, writers and the entire online team.

Key responsibilities include editing articles, writing headlines, captions, descriptions, teasers, summaries and content promotions; working with Web producers to develop main section pages and hubs and planning content meetings. The online editor will collaborate with the social media team to integrate material between EDF.org and other online efforts, and participate in evaluating new Web and Web 2.0 technologies; implementing them as needed.

The position offers the opportunity to strengthen leadership skills while growing in a digital presence that involves the latest tools and platforms.

To apply for this job, candidates should have a bachelor's degree in English, journalism or social sciences with at least five years' professional experience specifically in the online space. Two of those years should be as a Web editor and three as a long-form online writer. Knowledge of HTML, CSS and Drupal is a plus, and experience with video and photo editing is required.
