Bill Cosby won’t be sentenced until September after being found guilty of rape, but the Pennsylvania Sexual Offenders Assessment Board is recommending the disgraced comedian be classified as a sexually violent predator ahead of his sentencing.
The 81-year-old convicted rapist has been under house arrest since being found guilty of indecent sexual assault against a former Temple University employee, Andrea Constand, in April.
According to BuzzFeed News, the Montgomery County district attorney has asked a judge to rule on the board’s recommendation.
An attorney representing seven women suing Cosby for defamation, Joe Cammarata, told BuzzFeed News that classification request isn’t surprising, “in light of the over 60 allegations of sexual abuse and assault by Mr. Cosby of young women that he nurtured and had relationships with.”
Cosby’s sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 24. The maximum sentence Cosby faces could be 30 years in prison, effectively putting him behind bars for the rest of his life.
