The limited edition pieces are a nod to Lil Nas X’s No. 1 hit, “Old Town Road,” which features country star Billy Ray Cyrus. “Cowboy hat from Gucci/Wrangler on my booty/Cant nobody tell me nothin’,” X rhymes. The song hit No. 1 on the Billboard charts last month.
But some saddle-bagged skin tags are feeling real burned by the thought that their favorite dungaree brand would dare collaborate with a young, black, musician.
Lil Nas X speaks for most of us when he replied to the drama with a simple tweet: “Y’all really boycotting Wrangler?? Is it that deep?” One thing is certain: This is the most anyone’s talked about Wrangler Jeans in a very long time.
