The Associated Press is reporting that Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor decided Tuesday to review medical records from Michael Jackson's longtime dermatologist Arnold Klein. Pastor is reviewing the records before deciding whether they should be turned over to defense attorneys seeking to show that the singer was addicted to a powerful painkiller at the time of his death.

Klein is fighting the release of the files to attorneys for Dr. Conrad Murray, citing patient-confidentiality rules. Murray has pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the death of the pop star. The attorneys want the files so that they can show that Jackson was addicted to Demerol, which caused complications with the Propofol.

This is an attempt by Murray to muddy the issue, since Propofol is not supposed to be administered outside of a hospital; nor is it supposed to be available outside of a hospital pharmacy. Regardless of what Jackson may have been addicted to, the Propofol should never have been there or administered in the first place. Demerol didn't kill him — the Propofol did.

Nice try at passing the buck, but what Murray is alleged to have done is the equivalent of being a drug dealer. We're sure there is plenty of blame to go around regarding Jackson's addictions. What happened the day he died is what is most important — and it involved Murray, an illegal drug and the illegal use of that drug. We wonder if Murray's $150,000 monthly fee from Jackson was worth all of this drama.
