Condi Will Even Spin a 4th Grader

This is just sad. It wasn’t enough for Condi spin her torture-is-legal mess for Stanford students last week. Now she’s lying to grade-schoolers, too.

Last week, as Cenk Uygur reported on his The Young Turks show and HUFFPO, Rice told a group of Stanford students that waterboarding wasn’t illegal “by definition” because the president signed off on it. The argument is so silly that it piqued the interest of 4th grader Misha Lerner, at D.C.’s Jewish Primary Day School. When Condi came for a visit, the kid pointed out that the Obama administration disagrees with her analysis and asked what she thinks of it. Condi didn’t miss a beat reminding him about all the Americans killed on 9/11 and how well meaning the president was and blah blah blah… and, oh, whatever we did was legal ’cause the president said it was. You’ve heard it all before, but you can read her words here and HUFFPO has CNN video.

But Lerner’s Russian immigrant mom saves the worst part for WASHINGTON POST:

Misha's mother, Inna Lerner, said the question her son had initially come up with was even tougher: "If you would work for Obama's administration, would you push for torture?"

"They wanted him to soften it and take out the word 'torture.' But the essence of it was the same," Lerner said.

Great civics lesson for the little guy: In America, we’re deferential to the powerful, even when they’re clearly lying.
