If you blinked, you probably missed Oprah Winfrey’s first appearance on Empire. Well, technically it was just a photo of Oprah and Lucious Lyon, but it may have been a bit of foreshadowing of next season. According to series co-creator and director Lee Daniels, Winfrey will make a guest appearance on the show in season 2.
“Yes. She’s gonna be on it,” Daniels told Access Hollywood in an interview.
Daniels and Winfrey worked together on Lee Daniels’ The Butler, and rumor has it that she will join him on his Richard Pryor biopic starring Mike Epps.
In addition to Winfrey’s appearance on Empire next season, one of her co-stars from Selma will join the cast. Daniels revealed that Common will be featured.
“Oh yeah, for sure. For absolutely sure. We’re gonna have a good time. You heard that first,” Daniels said.
There’s no word on the roles Winfrey or Common might play, but if the guest-star-filled first season is any indication, everyone will be clamoring for a spot next season.
