A Colorado teenager has been charged with first-degree murder after allegedly stabbing his stepfather Friday night at their home in the city of Aurora and posting video of the dying man on Snapchat, according to the Denver Post.
In the video, Nickolas Vinson, 19, is seen saying, “Hey, guys, I just killed him. I just killed him. I just killed him.” The man, facedown and covered in blood, was his stepfather, 50-year-old Oscar Lemar Owensby. His mother, and Owensby’s common-law spouse, Celena Vinson, is seen in the video next to him screaming, “Lemar, can you hear me? Can you hear me? No!”
Celena Vinson called the police to report the attack. Owensby was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Nickolas Vinson allegedly used a 7-inch blade to stab Owensby multiple times in the neck, back, side and left shoulder. Owensby’s aorta was perforated and arterial blood splatter covered the walls of the basement. Police say that the stabbing took place near Nickolas’ bedroom in the basement of the trilevel home.
According to a police affidavit, Nickolas called his brother around 7 p.m. Friday to say that he had killed their stepfather because Owensby wanted to kick him out of the house.
When police called Nickolas, he allegedly confessed to the killing and told them that he had driven away from the home to say his final goodbyes, since he would be away for a long time. The cops intercepted him before he got too far.
The Vinsons had been living with Owensby for 14 years prior to the killing.
