The Grammys' embrace of singer Chris Brown, who performed twice on the show and won for best R&B album, drew criticism both before and after the show. The singer, who has a tendency to fly off the handle when he's criticized but who had mostly kept quiet after the Grammys, expressed himself yesterday on Twitter, according to the Daily News.
Brown tweeted, "HATE ALL U WANT BECUZ I GOT A GRAMMY. Now! That's the ultimate F—- OFF." Apparently regretting tweeting such a statement, he deleted it 15 minutes later — but not before a Mashable blogger got a screenshot of the post.
Among the reactions from those in the industry to Brown's Grammy appearance and tweet was this tweet from Grammy-winning singer Miranda Lambert: "Chris Brown twice? I don't get it. He beat on a girl." (Although the most disturbing tweets in response to his Grammy performance were those from some of his young female fans, who said that they would allow Brown to beat them.)
One of the biggest criticisms of Brown after the Rihanna incident was his off-the-cuff behavior with the press. His public me-against-the-world attitude had people wondering whether Brown had ever enlisted the help of a publicist. But publicists can't control your Twitter account if you don't let them.
