Childish Gambino was the musical guest and host on Saturday Night Live this weekend, giving his fans one hell of a surprise. The triple threat blew minds by dropping a new single and music video for “This Is America,” where the visuals are not only quite stirring but also apropos for the gun culture we currently live in.

In the Hiro Murai-directed video, Childish Gambino (aka Donald Glover) is dancing shirtless in a warehouse, and as the video continues, several people (some portraying students) get shot.

This is America (skrrt, skrrt, woo)
Don’t catch you slippin’ up (ayy)
Look at how I’m livin’ now
Police be trippin’ now (woo)
Yeah, this is America (woo, ayy)
Guns in my area (word, my area)
I got the strap (ayy, ayy)
I gotta carry ’em

“This Is America” is Childish Gambino’s first release since his 2016 Grammy Award-winning album, Awaken, My Love!, and will also be his last under the Gambino name. The musician recently announced a tour that begins in Atlanta (of course) on Sept. 6.
