Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley has vowed to keep the handgun ban in place, especially after the bloody weekend that the city had. 54 people were shot over the weekend, resulting in 10 deaths and numerous injuries. Several of the victims killed were teenagers and a baby was grazed by a bullet during this murderous weekend. The U.S. Supreme Court is expected to rule on Chicago's hand gun ban soon. Even if the city loses, Daley says the city will look for other ways to limit guns within its borders. The Chicago ban, in effect since 2008, has withstood challenges even as other cities, such as Washington, D.C., had their own hand gun ban struck down. With more than one shooting per hour this past weekend, we're not sure what all of the drama is about. Let's get this straight - people are being killed at ridiculous rates with a gun ban in place, and someone wants to lift it. The concept of pro-life must not extend to victims of crime.
